Special Sunday Blog.
Tomorrow we return to school to start the 2015 part of the school year. In the third week of January we will be halfway through second trimester and teachers will be completing progress reports.
Ms. Lamb has just finished posting before vacation grades. Note that I am grading each journal entry individually so students and parents can see exactly what is missing (although I don't post until the weekend.) I will have all students log into their schoology accounts tomorrow so I know everyone knows their status and how to access it. (Please remember that I make mistakes sometimes, so let me know if I forgot to update something or when haywire on my number inputting.)
Most weeks (but not all) we have a word study packet due that we complete mostly in class. This will become a homework assignment eventually, although we continue to do the first sort in class on Monday or Tuesday (this week we will start on Tuesday.)
In social studies, we have been devoting ourselves to our Vermont History Day projects which will be due on or about January 15th (more exact date coming soon.) So far students have turned in notes (last trimester) and completed an organizer called Mad Lib. This is posted in the social studies grades.
This trimester's LA writing focus is informational (or report) writing. Very soon, we will start reading together The History of Us The First Americans. This will culminate in an individual study of one group of Native Americans and the completion of a codex and report.
See you kids tomorrow. Sleep well.
